How many internships use Workday? We counted 2,136 listings.

The count: where each Apply link goes.

Workday is the most common place an internship application ends up, and it is not close. Greenhouse, the second most common named system, carries about a quarter as many listings. One listing in four goes to the employer's own careers site instead of a named system.

Three lists, one pattern.

One list could be a fluke of who maintains it, so we ran the same count on two more public lists. The two SpeedyApply lists, which cover software engineering internships, put Workday even higher. The vanshb03 list is the outlier: it is smaller and leans toward startups and trading firms. Most of its listings go to the employer's own site, then Oracle Recruiting Cloud, Greenhouse and Ashby.

The Simplify list tags each listing with a field. AI, machine learning and data internships are the most Workday-heavy; quant internships the least, because trading firms tend to run their own sites or Greenhouse. Even there, more than one listing in four is on Workday.

How we counted, and what this does not show.

We read each list's published data on September 29, 2026: the listings.json file for the two Simplify-format lists and the posting tables for SpeedyApply. We kept listings marked open and visible, and only Summer 2027 roles: the Simplify list also carries Fall, Winter and Spring co-ops, which we left out. Each Apply link was sorted by its web address: myworkdayjobs.com and myworkdaysite.com count as Workday, greenhouse.io as Greenhouse, and so on. Employers were counted by name, and Workday sites by the company name at the start of the address, because that name marks one employer's own site.

The script that does the count is public in the Litos website repository (scripts/internship-ats-share.mjs), so anyone can re-run it and check us.

• These are curated lists, mostly tech, engineering and quant roles at larger employers. They are not a sample of every internship in the country.
• Some employers run Workday, SuccessFactors or another system under their own web address. We count those as the employer's own site, so the shares for named systems are a floor, not a ceiling.
• A listing is not an account. Each employer decides whether its Workday site requires a candidate account; Workday's administrator documentation lists it as a setting. On the Workday sites Litos has filled, some asked you to create an account before the first page and some did not.
• Counting employers instead of internship listings gives a different picture. ResumeGeni's live crawl of 3,219 top-rated employers showed Greenhouse at 49.1% and Workday at 21.7% on September 29, 2026. That measures which system each employer uses, across all roles; this page measures where the open internship listings send students.
• Listings open and close daily. The date on this page is the date of the count.

What this means for your applications.

If you apply to 30 internships from these lists, expect about 12 to be Workday applications, each on a different employer's site. That is where the time goes: a new sign-in, a resume upload, then the same work history typed or checked again. The guides we read on Workday accounts explain why each company keeps its own account, but none said how often a student runs into one. This count is that number.

• Use one email address for every application, so every Workday account and confirmation is in one inbox.
• Let a password manager keep a different password for each company's Workday site.
• Before resetting a password, check the company name in the web address. You may be on a different employer's site.
• Applying to a second role at the same employer? Sign in to the account you already have there instead of making a new one.
• Budget your time by system, not by listing. A Workday application usually takes longer than a one-page Greenhouse or Ashby form.
