What goes wrong with most auto apply tools.

Auto apply tools promise volume: hundreds of applications while you do something else. The complaints from people who tried them repeat the same few problems, and none of them is about speed.

The common thread is that the tool acts and the applicant finds out later, usually when a recruiter calls about an answer they never gave.

• No record of what was sent: an old job title, a wrong phone number or the wrong description goes out and nobody saw it first.
• Applications blasted to roles the person was never close to qualified for.
• Screening questions answered with a default, such as yes to needing a visa, when the true answer was different.
• The same generic resume sent to roles that needed different emphasis.

How Litos applies for you.

Pick a role, from the roles Litos matches to your resume or a posting you found yourself. One posting in gives you three things: a resume tailored to that job description, a filled application on the employer's site, and answers to the employer's questions.

The resume is built only from experience you gave Litos. Tailoring means choosing and ordering what is relevant to the posting, not writing titles or skills you do not have. When the employer asks something Litos has no saved answer for, it asks you instead of guessing, and it can reuse your answer next time.

Two ways to send.

By default, Litos fills the application and waits. You read the tailored resume and every answer, then press submit yourself.

Automatic sending is a separate setting, off until you turn it on, and it needs active trial or paid Litos+ access. With it on, Litos can send an application you started once it has checked that every answer is backed by your profile and nothing on the page is in the way. In the Chrome extension you get a 15-second countdown, and one click cancels it. From the dashboard, it can send as soon as those checks pass.

With automatic sending on, Litos can send on its own on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Breezy and Recruitee. On Workday, sending follows Hold for my final press: with it on, the application waits for your Submit on the last page, and with it off, a clean application can go through. On other sites it fills the form, and sending follows your settings.

What always stops automatic sending.

Automatic sending is not a way around your judgment. Each of these pauses the application and waits for you:

• A missing answer, or two facts in your profile that disagree.
• Anything you have to swear to or declare personally.
• A check that you are human, such as a CAPTCHA.
• A page Litos cannot drive.
• A confirmation Litos is not sure of.

Auto apply, autofill or assisted apply.

Most tools fall into one of three kinds. Ask which one a tool is before you connect your profile.

• Autofill fills the fields on the page you have open. You check the form and press submit.
• Blind auto apply finds roles and submits for you. You usually see what was sent afterwards, if at all.
• Assisted apply, which is how Litos works, prepares the resume and the whole application, shows it to you, and sends only when you press submit or under the rules you set.

Keep a record of every application.

Applications you prepare in the Litos dashboard stay there with their status, so you can see what was prepared and what was sent where.

A filled page is not proof of receipt. Look for the employer's confirmation page or email before you treat an application as sent, and do not reapply to the same role just because you are unsure. Check the status first.
