About the job
Denison University seeks an experienced, creative, and analytically minded admission professional to serve as Associate Director, Enrollment Marketing & Communication. This position leads a major strategic priority for the Office of Admission: developing, coordinating, and evaluating compelling communications and marketing initiatives that engage prospective students, families, and college counselors throughout the recruitment and enrollment process. The successful candidate will combine a strong understanding of college admission with demonstrated Slate CRM expertise, thoughtful messaging, and the ability to translate data into effective recruitment strategies. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Admission & Enrollment Marketing, and working with considerable autonomy, the Associate Director will help shape and execute the office’s broader recruitment plans while aligning admission communications with institutional priorities.
Department Overview: The Division of Enrollment Management brings together the Office of Admission, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts. These teams recruit, evaluate, enroll, and support students and families as they navigate the application and financial processes of a Denison education. Our in-person, collaborative environment emphasizes close coordination across these teams and with other campus partners. We work closely with the University Communications & Marketing office to develop and execute marketing and communications strategies that engage prospective students and families, advance recruitment priorities, and communicate the value of a Denison education.
Responsibilities: • Lead the development, coordination, and execution of admission marketing and communication plans supporting prospective student recruitment, application completion, admission, and enrollment yield. • Plan and execute integrated communications across email, digital, web, social media, print, and direct mail channels, maintaining a comprehensive content and campaign calendar. • Develop and refine audience-specific messaging and campaign content in collaboration with admission colleagues and campus partners. • Facilitate and coordinate communications with college counselors, ensuring timely, relevant, and effective engagement that strengthens counselor relationships. • Use the Slate CRM to build and manage targeted communications, independently create queries, and develop increasingly sophisticated reports to support planning and evaluation. • Analyze student engagement, campaign responses, recruitment trends, and conversion outcomes; communicate findings and recommend adjustments to improve effectiveness. • Coordinate with University Communications and other campus partners to ensure consistent institutional messaging, effective production workflows, and appropriate tracking of communications. • Coordinate and advise on communications for Financial Aid and Student Accounts, collaborating with Student Financial Services colleagues to ensure clear, accurate, and timely messaging. • Monitor relevant enrollment marketing practices, communication technologies, market trends, and competitor approaches to identify opportunities for innovation. • Manage third-party marketing vendors, tools, and platforms that support enrollment communications, including coordinating implementation and overseeing ongoing use. • Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently, establish priorities, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree. • At least five years of professional experience in education admission, or directly related field. • Demonstrated experience with a CRM, including the ability to independently create queries, schedule communications, and use CRM data to support communication campaigns. • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret recruitment and engagement data and apply findings to strategy. • Excellent writing, editing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills. • Demonstrated organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously in a deadline driven environment. • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Preferred Requirements: • Experience taking primary responsibility for a substantial admission marketing or communications initiative. • Experience with the Slate CRM; building reports, queries, communications, and using reporting to evaluate campaign performance and recruitment outcomes. • Experience coordinating communications across email, web, social media, and print channels. • Familiarity with marketing and communications practices at a residential college.
