[What the role is]

Principal GeoSpatial/ Geomatics Consultant, Tech Innovation & Partnerships

About the role • Drive the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative solutions for underground mapping and infrastructure data management.

• The role will build strategic partnerships with government agencies, industry and academia to develop and test new technologies, advance data fusion and interoperability, and strengthen Singapore’s underground mapping ecosystem.

• The role will also contribute to the development of the SpatialX Community of Practice, fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration and innovation across the geospatial and underground infrastructure community.

[What you will be working on]

1. Underground Mapping Technology & Innovation

Research, evaluate and track emerging technologies for underground mapping, detection and data capture, including advanced sensing, positioning, 3D mapping, robotics, AI and data analytics. Identify promising technologies and assess their applicability, technical capabilities and potential for deployment in Singapore. Develop and drive technology pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives to validate solutions under local operating conditions. Translate technology trends and pilot findings into actionable recommendations, implementation pathways and opportunities for wider adoption.

2. Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development

Establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies, technology providers, industry players, Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and research institutions. Identify opportunities for joint research, technology development, industry trials and collaborative innovation projects. Facilitate cross-sector collaboration to address common challenges in underground mapping and infrastructure data management. Explore international collaborations and emerging technology solutions that can strengthen Singapore’s underground mapping capabilities.

3. Underground Data Fusion & Interoperability

Apply underground infrastructure knowledge and technical expertise to spearhead initiatives in data fusion, integration and interoperability across diverse underground datasets. Explore approaches to harmonise data from different sources, technologies and stakeholders to improve data consistency, usability and integration. Drive the development and validation of data models, standards, workflows and frameworks that support interoperable underground infrastructure data. Work with agencies, industry and academia to address technical and operational barriers to data sharing and integration.

4. SpatialX Community of Practice

Contribute to the development and growth of the SpatialX Community of Practice as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration and innovation. Organise and support technical exchanges, learning journeys, industry engagements and showcases of emerging technologies. Connect practitioners, researchers, agencies and technology providers to share best practices, lessons learnt and practical solutions. Identify opportunities for collaborative projects and translate community insights into new initiatives for the team.

[What we are looking for]

Qualification in Geomatics, Surveying, Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Other disciplines could be considered. Experience or strong interest in underground mapping, geospatial technologies, infrastructure data management or related technology domains. Familiarity with emerging mapping technologies (3D spatial data, GIS, BIM, data integration) or interoperability concepts would be an advantage. Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess technical solutions and translate findings into practical applications. Good stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills, with the ability to work across government, industry and academia. Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate pilots, manage deliverables and drive initiatives from concept to implementation. Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
