Salary:350-400k

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with an established healthcare organization with a history dating back to 1912 to identify a Medical Director / Pathologist for their Anatomic Pathology practice in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The organization primarily provides AP laboratory and blood services, including blood donation processing and distribution.

This is an excellent opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible AP/CP physician with strong general surgical pathology experience who is comfortable working with both clinical and administrative leadership.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic interpretation of surgical pathology cases, including frozen sections

Provide medical oversight and leadership for Anatomic Pathology services

Collaborate with hospital staff, physicians, and administrative leadership

Provide consultation and support to clinical teams as needed

Participate in a light call schedule, primarily consisting of occasional phone consultations

Support quality, compliance, and laboratory operations

Provide physician-level leadership and guidance across the organization

Assist with hematopathology responsibilities as needed; no autopsy responsibilities

Qualifications

MD or DO with AP/CP board certification or eligibility

General Surgical Pathology experience required

Hematopathology experience preferred

No specific fellowship training required

Active or eligible for medical licensure in Michigan

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable interacting with physicians, hospital staff, and administrative leadership

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment

About the Opportunity

The organization processes approximately 14,000 cases annually and works with a contracted laboratory team of approximately 2.5 FTEs in Michigan who support day-to-day slide interpretation and frozen sections. The incoming Medical Director will play an important role in providing diagnostic expertise, physician leadership, and collaboration with hospital and administrative teams.
