About the role
As a Staff Product Designer, you will take on our largest and most ambiguous design problems and set the long-term design direction for your product area. You will shape what we build as well as how it works: complex journeys, patterns other teams depend on, and the questions that decide what comes next.
Designing for money means designing for trust, often for people on low-end devices and unreliable internet connections, and your work will set the standard for how we do that.
You will join one of our product teams, working either on the products our customers use on POS, mobile and web, or on the operational tools our teams use to serve them. Your home team is where your work starts, not where it ends. The journeys you design and the patterns you create will cut across several teams, so you will work closely with designers, product managers and engineers on those teams to make sure the product holds together as one experience.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role: you will lead through your work and your influence, partnering with design, product and engineering leaders, with support from researchers and content designers.
What you'll do
Own the design of our most complex work end to end, from discovery through launch and beyond. Set the long-term design direction for your product area, thinking ahead to where the product is going so teams can plan and build towards it. Work with product and engineering leaders to decide what we build and why, starting from the problem, not the solution. Think in systems, creating templates and patterns that can be configured and reused, and partner with our design system team to shape its direction. Set the bar for accessibility and inclusion in your product area and help other teams reach it, so our products work for everyone, whatever their ability, device, internet connection or level of digital literacy. Spot where features built by different teams overlap or conflict, and bring those teams to one design that works across the whole product. Shape our biggest product bets by testing them with customers and data before we commit to building them. Stay with the work through build so that what ships matches what was designed, then measure its impact on customers and the business and keep improving it. Present your work with conviction and defend your decisions to senior leadership. Mentor designers and lead critique, raising the bar for design beyond your own work.
What you need to succeed
10+ years of product design experience, with recent hands-on work on large, ambiguous problems. Exceptional interaction and visual design craft across mobile and web, with a sharp eye for hierarchy, typography, layout and detail. A portfolio of shipped work that shows how you framed the problem, your role, the direction you set and what changed as a result, with the evidence to back it. Experience leading work that spans several teams or product areas, and bringing designers, product managers and engineers behind a shared direction. Experience setting design direction and influencing what gets built, working with senior product and engineering leaders. Strong systems thinking, with patterns or templates that other designers have adopted. A track record of shipping accessible, inclusive products, and the ability to show the decisions you made for people with disabilities, low digital literacy or limited devices. Fluency in both research and data: you know which questions each can answer, and you use them to set direction and to judge whether shipped work succeeded. The confidence to defend your design decisions to senior leadership, and the judgment to change course on evidence. Experience mentoring designers and leading design critique. Curiosity about customers whose devices, connectivity and digital habits differ from your own. Hands-on experience using AI tools to explore and prototype faster, while owning the judgment and the quality of the result.
Nice to have
Experience designing for POS terminals is a strong plus. Experience in financial services, multiple markets or operational tools is also welcome.
What you’ll get
A leadership role in shaping the future of fintech - your work will impact millions of users. Career growth opportunities. A culture of experimentation - we encourage innovative thinking and rapid iteration. Competitive compensation and benefits. Remote-friendly work culture, with access to learning resources.
