We’re currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our PSA JAPAN team and manage the fast paced month end closing process in accordance with the company’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as Japan GAAP. In addition to performing hands-on accounting activities, the Senior Accountant will be expected to independently own key accounting and close processes, resolve accounting issues with limited supervision, and provide review and guidance to other team members as needed. The ideal candidate has experience with the preparation and input of standard monthly journal entries, recording and maintaining fixed assets, bank reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, recording company credit card transactions, and other related responsibilities.

You’ll report to the Head of Finance, Japan and work from our Tokyo office.

What You'll Do:

Independently own key accounting processes and assigned month-end close activities, ensuring they are completed accurately and on schedule with limited supervision Review accounting transactions, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, and identify and resolve accounting issues as they arise Review work prepared by other accounting team members and provide guidance as needed Serve as a key point of contact for accounting matters with internal stakeholders, external auditors, tax advisors, and other external parties Prepare and input standard monthly journal entries and perform month end closing process Perform bank, cash and G/L account reconciliations and analysis Process outgoing payments in compliance with the policies and procedures Apply customer payments to their accounts accurately and in timely manner Perform financial analysis, including month-over-month, actual-to-budget and prior-year comparisons, and provide meaningful variance explanations and management reporting Maintain files in orderly manner, including scanning documents to electronic files Troubleshoot accounting-related operational issues, including problem orders and accounting holds Financial analysis, comparison of month-over-month actual, actual to budget and to prior year, provide meaningful recap/explanation of variances to management Prepare timely and comprehensive management analysis reports to allow for informed business decisions Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes Assist with internal and external audits Prepare necessary supporting information and details for filing various tax returns including national and local corporate tax returns, consumption tax return, business premise tax returns and any other tax filings that are required. Support accounting and finance system upgrades and implementations Perform other accounting, finance, and related duties as assigned based on business needs Who You Are:

BA or BS Degree in Accounting/Finance 3 - 5 years of strong accounting and financial analysis experience, with demonstrated ability to independently manage month-end close activities Understanding of GAAP accounting concepts Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask Organized, problem solver, flexible and able to prioritize Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills Intermediate to advanced Excel skills a must Native-level Japanese proficiency, with the ability to independently handle accounting, tax, banking, and other external administrative matters in Japanese without language support Business-level English proficiency, with the ability to communicate effectively with global stakeholders Exposure to international operations, foreign currency translation and consolidations a plus Exposure to maintaining/developing forecasts and budgets a plus Experience with software upgrade/implementation Reasons To Join Us:
