A role in Finance Capabilities means partnering with Finance, Technology, and analytics leaders to co-create solutions that maximizes business value and enables key strategies that are critical to the enterprise and for the experiences we create for our guests. Truly an owner and expert of your data solutions and underlying processes, you will set the vision, align on the roadmap and mobilize your team and partner teams to deliver needed outcomes. Given most strategies have a Finance impact, you will also serve as a trusted resource to guide other enterprise partners in their solutions to ensure the success and integrity of end-to-end deliverables.

About the job:

As a Sr. Manager, Data Analytics in Finance Capabilities, you will serve as a senior technical leader for Finance’s adoption of Target’s modern data platform and lead the end-to-end data validation strategy supporting Finance Modernization. You will partner across Finance, Product Management, engineering, enterprise data platform teams, Risk & Controls, and SOX IT to ensure modern data solutions are designed to meet Finance’s needs and that data is complete, accurate, controlled, and fit for use from source applications through GCP.

You will own the Finance modern source application to data platform data validation strategy, including the frameworks, acceptance criteria, reconciliation approaches, evidence expectations, and issue-management practices needed to validate data across the end-to-end flow. You will also lead independent contractor resources performing validation work by setting priorities and technical expectations, reviewing the quality of outputs, and helping resolve complex data-quality issues. While this role will not own the engineering pipelines or the delivery of data into the modern data platform, you will provide technical leadership to ensure those solutions meet Finance expectations for quality, traceability, and long-term sustainability.

You will also serve as a key technical advocate for Finance with data platform, architecture, Product Management, and engineering teams. You will review and challenge technical designs, identify gaps or risks, and help shape solutions so they meet Finance requirements. This includes driving resolution of systemic technical issues and ensuring Finance considerations such as reconciliation, controls, auditability, and data quality are appropriately incorporated into modern data solutions.

A significant part of the role will be establishing and communicating common technical patterns and guardrails for Finance as new data and analytics capabilities are adopted. You will help define scalable approaches for technologies such as Google BigQuery, Microsoft Power BI, Google Looker, and related tools so Finance teams can adopt modern capabilities consistently rather than creating fragmented or one-off solutions.

About you:

Four-year degree or equivalent experience. 6+ years of experience in data analytics, analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, data architecture, or a related technical data role, within Finance, Accounting, or another data-intensive enterprise function Strong understanding of modern data architectures and end-to-end data flows, including source-system extraction, ingestion, transformation, data quality, cloud data platforms, and downstream analytical consumption Demonstrated experience designing or leading data validation, reconciliation, testing, or data-quality frameworks across complex datasets and systems Strong SQL and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex data issues, trace discrepancies across systems, and determine root causes Ability to evaluate and challenge technical architecture and solution designs, identify risks or gaps, and partner constructively with engineers and architects to improve solutions Experience leading the work of matrixed technical resources, including setting expectations, prioritizing work, reviewing deliverables, and driving accountability for outcomes Strong understanding of data controls, reconciliation, data lineage, auditability, and data-quality concepts; experience working in SOX-controlled or similarly regulated environments is preferred Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate between Finance requirements and technical design and communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries, influence teams without direct authority, and drive resolution of ambiguous or complex technical issues Strong ownership mindset with a focus on creating scalable, sustainable, well-governed solutions rather than solving individual use cases through one-off approaches Experience with modern analytics and visualization technologies such as Microsoft Power BI, Google Looker, or equivalent tools, with an understanding of how platform standards and reusable patterns enable scalable adoption Experience with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery, or equivalent modern data warehouse and analytics technologies
