Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer - Electromechanical Systems will plan, develop, implement, and support manufacturing processes, production test systems, calibration methods, and troubleshooting activities for electromechanical systems and assemblies. This role supports new product introduction, production ramp-up, product builds, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will serve as the primary technical interface between Product Development and Manufacturing, ensuring products are manufacturable, testable, reliable, and production-ready while driving improvements in quality, efficiency, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities: Production Test Systems: Develop, maintain, validate, and improve production test systems, fixtures, calibration methods, firmware loading processes, and validation procedures used for day-to-day manufacturing operations. New Product Introduction: Partner with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers, and Quality to define manufacturing requirements, test strategies, build plans, calibration processes, and production readiness activities for new product introductions. Manufacturing Process Development: Develop, validate, and improve manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies and systems. Create and maintain assembly procedures, manufacturing documentation, and work instructions. Product Build Support: Provide hands-on support during product builds, pilot builds, prototype builds, and production ramp-up activities. Identify manufacturing risks and implement solutions to improve build quality, manufacturability, testability, and efficiency. Documentation: Assist Product Development Engineering with the development and initial release of manufacturing work instructions, test procedures, calibration procedures, and production support documentation. Following product release, assume ownership of maintaining, improving, and implementing these manufacturing documents. Production Support & Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, firmware configuration, and test-related issues during production. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Suppliers, Technicians, Operators, and Manufacturing teams to quickly identify and resolve production bottlenecks. Electromechanical Testing and Troubleshooting: Perform system-level testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and verification of sensors, actuators, instrumentation, communication systems, embedded controllers, control systems, and electromechanical assemblies using diagnostic, testing, calibration, and measurement equipment. Yield Improvement & Failure Analysis: Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify improvement opportunities. Lead root cause investigations, perform failure analysis on non-conforming products, support NCR investigations, and implement corrective actions to improve quality, reliability, and manufacturing performance. Configuration & Change Implementation: Support engineering change implementation activities, manufacturing validation, revision updates, and configuration control processes to ensure accurate product builds. Following product release, own the manufacturing implementation of approved engineering changes. Supplier Support: Work with suppliers to resolve component, assembly, quality, calibration, testing, and manufacturing issues. Support first article inspections, qualification activities, and corrective action investigations as required. Engineering & Manufacturing Integration: Serve as the primary technical interface between Product Development and Manufacturing during product builds, new product introduction, production ramp-up, and ongoing production support. Coordinate issue resolution across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Suppliers, and Manufacturing teams while supporting manufacturability reviews, readiness reviews, and production deployment activities. Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10-15%. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Seven or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering, controls engineering, electromechanical systems, product testing, new product introduction, production support, or related engineering roles. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, bills of material, technical specifications, and test procedures. Experience supporting the integration, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing of electromechanical products and systems. Experience using diagnostic, testing, calibration, and measurement equipment to support validation, troubleshooting, and production activities. Working knowledge of industrial controls, automation, communication systems, data acquisition systems, PLCs, motion control systems, instrumentation, or automated test equipment. Experience in low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments and supporting new product introduction, production ramp-up, and continuous improvement activities.
