About the job

Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) mission is to enable energy transition via Innovation, Translation and Partnerships.

To achieve this mission, the core activities are

Advancing Energy Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D) for Energy Solutions Creating a multi-disciplinary innovation ecosystem to deliver impactful solutions aligned with National Priorities Drive knowledge creation & tech transfer through strong multi-stakeholder partnerships

We are looking for a Research Fellow/Research Scientist – Grid Modelling to work on a project in the area of grid modelling of landed housing estates in Singapore to study grid congestion, voltage stability and frequency stability linked to the increase in Distributed Energy Resources like rooftop solar, EV charging and increase in the power consumption of houses due to renovations adding additional electrification requirements in terms of air-conditioning, induction cooking, elevators and the overall increase in power consumption related to the increases in overall floor space.

Key Responsibilities:

Development of grid models of landed estates using tools like PSCAD and PSSE Development a probabilistic assessment framework to study the evolution of the LV distribution grid in terms of DER deployment and energy consumption in landed estate in short, medium and long term Study of the impact of the evolution of the power grid in landed estates and modelling of the impact it can have in terms of potential non-compliance to Singapore Grid standards. Modeling of potential mitigation solutions, both in terms of prevention of grid standards non-compliance before they occur due to planning improvements as well as mitigation of grid standards non-compliance after they have occurred.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor (for PO and Research Assistant equivalent) / Master (for Research Associate/Scientists equivalent) / PhD (for Research Fellow and above equivalent) qualification degree in power systems engineering or related field 3 years of relevant experiences in similar role / technical hands-on experience in power systems engineering is preferred Familiarity with grid modelling using PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory or equivalent tools is required Good written and oral communication skills Interpersonal skill (e.g. Develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills) is required Entry level candidates are welcome to apply We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
