Job Role We are looking for a hands-on Financial Accountant to join our General Ledger Accounting team, taking significant ownership of the accounting and financial close activities for our Swiss entity in Geneva, while also supporting accounting activities across our wider EMEA organisation.
This is a broad accounting role suited to someone who enjoys having ownership beyond simply producing numbers. You will manage key elements of the month-end close, maintain strong balance sheet control, support statutory audits, oversee cash and banking activities and work closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business.
You'll also have exposure to FP&A, commercial teams and international colleagues, helping the business understand cost movements and ensuring financial information is accurate, timely and well controlled. The environment is international, fast-paced and continuously evolving, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both technical accounting and business partnering.
How You Will Contribute
Take ownership of general ledger accounting and month-end close activities for our Swiss entity, alongside supporting other EMEA entities. Prepare and review accounting entries including accruals, prepayments, payroll, expenses, accounts payable and other month-end adjustments. Perform P&L reviews and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating movements and ensuring accounts are accurate and appropriately supported. Manage the calculation, capitalisation and amortisation of internally generated assets, including developer time, alongside wider fixed asset accounting. Play a key role in the annual statutory audit, working with auditors and internal stakeholders to provide accurate information and support local statutory financial statements. Support monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, delivering accurate reporting within tight deadlines. Work closely with FP&A and business stakeholders, providing accounting information, cost analysis and adjustments and helping to explain financial movements. Develop an understanding of key costs, vendors, contracts and renewals to provide meaningful financial insight to the business. Support cash flow forecasting, bank account administration and treasury activities, including appropriate cash movements to meet liabilities. Work with international Finance colleagues on intercompany, tax and wider accounting queries. Support Finance-led cost control initiatives and provide analysis and commentary on monthly cost variances. Continuously improve accounting processes, close routines and financial controls, including exploring opportunities to use AI and automation to improve efficiency. Contribute actively to month-end close meetings and the wider Finance team.
What Will Make You Successful Core experience
Strong hands-on experience in financial accounting, general ledger accounting or management accounting, ideally within an international or multi-entity organisation. Strong understanding of month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L review. Experience working with financial controls and audit requirements, ideally including supporting external or statutory audits. Comfortable working across multiple entities and with international Finance colleagues. Strong financial systems skills and confidence working with detailed accounting data. The ability to combine strong technical accounting with effective communication and business partnering. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can change and processes continue to evolve.
Highly desirable
Experience in a technology, software or SaaS business. Experience working in a shared services or international Finance environment. Exposure to US GAAP. Experience with intercompany accounting, cash-flow forecasting or treasury activities. CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification, including candidates nearing qualification. Strong qualified-by-experience candidates with substantial relevant accounting experience will also be considered. French language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
Working With Us This role works closely with colleagues across the UK and international Finance organisation. The team currently comes together in the Theale office at least once a week, typically on Thursdays.
