The Opportunity
This Programs and Solutions team sits within the Strategy and Solutions Chapter, which encompasses a number of different strategic and innovative teams. Our purpose is to guide strategic priorities, advance value delivery through solutions and digital excellence, govern compliance, and drive sustainability to deliver continuous improvement and strengthen Global Procurement’s impact on the wider Roche organization.
As a Sr. Programs & Solutions Manager (Commercial & Corporate Services), you will operate as part of a team that brings market expertise, supplier-driven innovation, and strategic execution capability to the organization. You will be expected to play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and general business requirements, including but not limited to these core responsibilities:
Lead Category Transformations: Elevate business outcomes by re-imagining the end-to-end category journey from Demand to Pay (including demand management, supplier partnerships, post-contract buying, and supplier management) in collaboration with business, supplier, category teams, and Global Procurement S2P & Intake/orchestration systems. Execute Cost Transformations & Major Negotiations: Develop and test hypothesis-led initiatives for accelerated cost optimization. Prep for and lead major negotiations both within cost optimization programs and as standalone initiatives, acting as a player-coach operator to guide teams and lead directly. Provide Cross-Functional Program Leadership: Lead complex, cross-functional, and multi-workstream programs across global matrix environments, operating beyond a classic PMO mindset by independently owning specific workstreams while influencing broader program outcomes. Drive Market & Supplier-Driven Innovation: Co-create and deliver market-first solutions to solve complex business challenges, challenging the status quo and redefining ways of working to deliver impact beyond standard procurement metrics through data-driven decisions, specification changes, and supplier innovation Develop Frameworks and Approaches: Apply, refine, and champion solution frameworks, tools, and execution approaches for both "beyond-procurement" innovation models and complex strategic programs. Advocate and Enable: Advise and influence business stakeholders to align strategic direction and co-create solutions, leveraging market insights, storytelling, and data-driven recommendations. Foster Collaboration & Community: Build and nurture GP and Roche-wide cross-functional networks, cultivating an environment of radical collaboration, psychological safety, and shared best practices to scale success across the enterprise. Who You Are:
You hold a University degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field. Experience: A seasoned expert in procurement, with category experience in commercial (e.g. marketing, media, data & analytics) and / or corporate services (e.g. professional services, consulting) ideally with management consulting experience. You have a proven record of leading supplier innovation, digital solutions, complex cost-out initiatives, or high-value negotiations Strong Data & Insights-led mindset: You can work from a hypothesis-led mindset combining data (spend, market and X-domain datasets) + insight on business behaviors to influence change ways or working/sourcing models. You have proven ability to independently run complex analyses, and model assumption-based scenarios to drive business decision making. Innovation: A proven track record of co-creating market-first supplier innovations and delivering high-stakes strategic initiatives (e.g., large-scale cost transformations or complex, high-value negotiations) across Commercial & Corporate category. Challenger & Speed Mindset: Driven to challenge the status quo and look beyond standard procurement metrics. You value speed-to-impact and prefer scaling and repurposing proven frameworks over starting from scratch. Astute & Influential Communicator: Exceptional presentation and dialogue skills, capable of navigating senior-level discussions, influencing decision-making, and translating complex market opportunities into compelling business cases. Enterprise Thinker: You "connect the dots" across the Roche procurement network and broader business, leveraging technical expertise and commercial acumen to solve business challenges. Inclusive & Growth-Oriented: An open-minded, inclusive team player who thrives in a culture of psychological safety, generous knowledge sharing, and continuous development. You are fluent in English to a Business level. Join our team and enable the strong capability expertise needed to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
