Product Manager - Developer Experience
Job Description
So, who are we?
IG Group is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.4m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions – built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses.
The bar is high – bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.
Join us at IG – the future gets built here.
Your Team:
Compensation details will be shared by the recruiter during the first interview.
This role sits within the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) division, reporting directly into the Product Management Lead. The I&O Product team defines and delivers the core engineering platforms that underpin the organization covering software delivery, reliability and observability, cloud and infrastructure platforms, and the operational services that keep the business running. These are the foundations that IG’s engineering capability is built on.
You will operate at the intersection of the engineers who build the platform and the engineering teams who depend on it daily - acting as the bridge between user needs and platform delivery. This is an individual contributor role with significant visibility across engineering and senior technology leadership.
What you’ll do:
Define and own product strategy from inception - establishing what the platform needs to be, what it should do first, and how it evolves over time. Build and maintain a prioritized product roadmap grounded in developer needs, engineering priorities, and IG’s broader technology transformation agenda. Establish clear success metrics for the performance engineering space, including adoption rates and measurable improvements in developer productivity. Conduct structured discovery with engineering teams to understand developer pain points, workflow friction, and unmet needs across CI/CD, observability, cloud, and related tooling. Partner closely with platform engineers and DevOps teams to ensure the roadmap reflects both user demand and technical feasibility. Engage senior engineering and technology leadership to align the IDP vision with IG’s strategic direction and secure continued investment. Drive delivery of the IDP in close partnership with engineering teams - writing clear requirements, managing trade-offs, and unblocking progress. Own the adoption strategy: define how engineering teams onboard to the platform, surface value quickly, and embed the IDP into everyday developer workflows. Track platform performance and developer feedback post-launch, iterating rapidly to improve quality and expand capability.
What You'll Need:
Proven product management experience, with a proven track record of owning the end-to-end lifecycle for highly technical products (platform engineering, developer tooling, DevOps, or infrastructure). Familiarity with IDP concepts and tooling (for example, Backstage, Port, or similar developer portal frameworks). Strong technical depth: good understanding of modern software development, Cloud, DevOps, APIs and the software development cycle. Able to engage credibly with engineers on architecture, tooling trade-offs, and platform design without needing to code the solution yourself. Demonstrated ability to build a platform as a product - establishing a roadmap and driving early adoption in an ambiguous environment. Experience bridging the gap between platform builders and platform users - translating developer needs into clear, actionable product decisions. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align engineers, architects, and senior technology leaders around a shared platform vision. Comfortable working with data to define success, measure impact, and prioritise ruthlessly.
The perks:
It really is more than a job. We think like a start-up, but we deliver like a FTSE 100 - so the bar is high, and we won't pretend otherwise. We work hybrid, which means three days in the office. We’ll recognise your talent and make sure that you can still have a life – at work, and outside of it. Networks, committees, awards, sports and social clubs, mentorships, volunteering opportunities, extra time off… the list goes on.
