SUMMARY As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive medical care within the Monroe County Children's Detention Center. This role offers a unique blend of autonomous practice, collaborative care, and program development, with the opportunity to work independently while partnering closely with nursing staff and physician leadership. Due to the independent nature of the position, prior advanced practice experience is required.

STATUS: Full Time (36 Hours) LOCATION: Monroe County Children's Detention Center (Rush, NY) SCHEDULE: Days; Monday - Friday

Patient Care. Provide comprehensive primary and urgent medical care services, perform physical examinations, assess and diagnose acute and chronic conditions, order appropriate diagnostic testing, and develop treatment plans for patients within the detention center setting. Independent Practice & Clinical Management. Function as the primary onsite advanced practice provider, utilizing sound clinical judgment and working autonomously while collaborating with the Medical Director and supervising physician as needed. Collaboration. Partner closely with staff to coordinate patient care, support clinical operations, and ensure continuity of services. Program Development. Contribute to workflow development, process improvement initiatives, and the continued expansion of healthcare services within the detention center as the partnership grows. Documentation & Compliance. Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate medical documentation while adhering to organizational, regulatory, and correctional healthcare standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
