About the Role Xyla is supporting The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in delivering a Urology One Stop Service in Epping. The service has been established to help reduce referral-to-diagnosis times for patients awaiting assessment and treatment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, the Healthcare Assistant will play a key role in ensuring an efficient patient journey while supporting the safe and effective delivery of outpatient urology services.
This position requires a compassionate, organised, and proactive individual who can provide high-quality patient support throughout the clinic pathway while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to infection prevention standards.
Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Support
Welcome and support patients attending the Urology One Stop Service. Assist patients with changing prior to procedures. Provide chaperone support during clinical examinations and procedures when required. Support patients throughout their clinic visit, ensuring they feel comfortable, informed, and cared for. Assist with the safe discharge of patients following their procedure or assessment.
Clinical Support
Collect mid-stream urine samples from patients prior to procedures. Perform urinalysis screening in accordance with local protocols. Escalate abnormal urinalysis findings promptly to the appropriate clinical professional for review and action. Support the clinical team in maintaining an efficient patient flow throughout clinic sessions.
Clinic Operations
Assist with clinic room preparation and turnaround between patients. Ensure patient areas are prepared and maintained to support a smooth-running service. Support the team in maintaining a safe, clean, and organised clinical environment.
Documentation & Administration
Scan and upload patient outcome forms and related clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain patient confidentiality and handle information in line with data protection and organisational policies. Support accurate record keeping using hospital systems and processes.
Person Specification Essential
Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a Outpatient setting. Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centred care. Previous experience managing a patient post non surgical procedure Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. Confidence in managing documentation and administrative tasks. Understanding of patient confidentiality and professional conduct. Familiarity with electronic patient record systems
