Senior Data Scientist – Supply Chain Optimization / Operations Research

The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for designing and delivering advanced analytics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, and AI solutions to solve complex business problems across Supply Chain and Operations.

The role will work closely with Supply Chain leaders, business stakeholders, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and other cross-functional teams within the Data & AI Center of Excellence to translate business needs into scalable, data-driven solutions.

The position will have a strong focus on Operations Research and Optimization, including inventory optimization, allocation, scheduling, resource optimization, and integrated planning, while also leveraging Machine Learning, forecasting, and AI techniques where appropriate.

This position is part of the Data Science Team, Center of Excellence in Bangalore.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Partner with Supply Chain leaders and business stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities, translate business needs into analytical solutions, and communicate clear recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences. Design and implement scalable Operations Research and optimization solutions for inventory, allocation, scheduling, resource planning, and network optimization. Develop Machine Learning, forecasting, and AI solutions that improve business decision-making and operational performance. Explore and develop hybrid Generative AI and Operations Research solutions that enable business users to formulate optimization problems, interact with numerical models through natural language, perform what-if scenario analysis, and understand optimization recommendations. Lead Data Science and Optimization initiatives from problem formulation and solution design through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Data Engineers and ML Engineers to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions, while providing technical guidance and mentoring junior Data Scientists. The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, in Operations Research, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Strong hands-on expertise in mathematical optimization, including LP, MIP/MILP, Constraint Programming, and Nonlinear Programming, with experience improving solver performance, runtime, scalability, and memory utilization. Experience designing heuristics or metaheuristics and solving Supply Chain problems such as inventory optimization, allocation, scheduling, network and resource optimization, cutting stock, and knapsack. Strong Python and SQL skills, experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data platform, and hands-on use of at least two optimization tools such as Gurobi, IBM ILOG CPLEX, Google OR-Tools, AIMMS, or FICO Xpress. At least 2 years of Supply Chain Analytics experience, practical knowledge of Machine Learning and forecasting, and strong stakeholder management and communication skills. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Emerging AI techniques, including unsupervised learning, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI and experience combining them with mathematical optimization, including natural-language interfaces, optimization model generation, solver tool-calling, scenario analysis, explanation of solver results, and retrieval-augmented generation over business rules or technical documentation. Advanced optimization methods such as stochastic or simulation optimization, decomposition methods, genetic algorithms, and other metaheuristics. MLOps and production deployment, including model monitoring, containerization, data lineage, cloud environments, visualization, and integration with enterprise Supply Chain, ERP, manufacturing, or planning systems.
