The St. Luke's Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician will provide high quality, cost effective medical care. This individual will also participate in quality, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives.
St. Luke’s University Health Network, the region’s largest, most established health system, a major teaching hospital, and one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals is seeking an OB/GYN Hospitalist to join our strong dedicated team of physicians providing outstanding patient care in Allentown, PA. About the Position:
This position will provide hospitalist coverage in Allentown, PA. Shifts are structured as 24 hours per call with approximately 7 to 8 shifts per month (full time). The hospitalist will provide care to OB/GYN patients, provide mentorship to OB/GYN residents and medical students and participate in departmental quality and safety and research initiatives. About the Department:
St. Luke’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology consists of over 100 physicians and advanced practitioners spread over 40 practice locations. Rapidly growing obstetrical program with over 6,000 deliveries per year across 3 birthing facilities. New state of the art birthing centers located at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus, St. Luke’s Allentown Campus and St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus. Repeatedly awarded “Best Place to Have a Baby” in the Lehigh Valley by the Morning Call’s Readers’ Choice Awards. Full support from a team of Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians to provide care for all OB patients (outpatient care, hospital consults, preconception counseling, genetic counseling, diabetes management, etc.). In house 24/7 support from neonatology at each delivering campus with Level III capabilities available at St. Luke’s Anderson and Allentown and Level II capabilities at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks. Outpatient support for patients and family members provided through St. Luke’s Baby & Me Support Center – an innovative facility designed to support patients and their families with support during and after pregnancy (pre-natal classes, lactation support, post-partum behavioral health support, etc.) Fully accredited training programs in OB/GYN and GYN oncology. Ryan Program accredited residency with strong family planning program. Robust GYN surgical volumes spanning all sub-specialties (MIGS, UroGYN, REI, Family Planning and GYN Oncology). Dedicated departmental research efforts supported by St. Luke’s Research Institute and Department of Research and Innovation. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen. Provides consultations on all patients as requested by other physicians. Rounds on assigned patients and those patients who you are requested to see in collaboration with an AP as needed. Provides cost effective, high quality care based on best practice evidence based medicine. Makes best efforts to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines that have been approved by the medical staff. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. Provides regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients, and their families. Participates in the education of patients and their families. Participates in regular meetings of the practice group. Remains current with Medical Records documentation and responds in a timely manner to requests for chart review and completion. Submits timely and accurate billing information. Supervises Advanced Practitioners. Attends appropriate continuing medical education so as to maintain Pennsylvania/New Jersey Licensure. Demonstrates the ability to develop effective working relationships within the hospital and St. Luke’s University Health Network. Performs duties as assigned and required within area of specialty or service line. PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to 5 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Standing for up to 5 hours per day, 2 hours at a time. Walking for up to 3 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Fingering and handling small objects frequently. Twisting and turning of hand occasionally. Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs. Transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs via wheelchair or stretcher. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as is relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in area of specialty required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Current or recent experience in area of specialty required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
MD or DO - licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice. Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board required.
OTHER: Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges. Must be eligible and maintain eligibility as a provider of Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health programs. Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
