Schechter Reed is recruiting a Senior Executive Assistant for our client, a growth-stage technology company, to support its Chief Operating Officer. The role owns the COO's calendar, preparation, travel, and communications, and takes part in priority projects and key meetings.
About the Role
Location: Washington, DC metro area (on-site) Employment type: Full-time Compensation: $115K - $140K, depending on experience
The Senior EA will take ownership of core support for the COO from the start, then build trust to work independently across a broader scope. The COO has company-wide operational responsibility and sets a high standard for preparation, communication, and presentation. The right fit is practical, discreet, warm, and composed, sets boundaries with confidence, and puts the company first.
The Senior EA reports to the COO and works closely with the CEO's Senior Executive Assistant. The role requires flexibility outside standard hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Responsibilities
Own a complex, fast-moving calendar, using the COO's priorities to make decisions about time, access, sequencing, and preparation Track commitments, decisions, deadlines, and dependencies; anticipate conflicts and adjust as priorities change Manage incoming requests, communications, and sensitive information; raise urgent issues quickly and respond on the COO's behalf with judgment and discretion Prepare the COO for operating meetings, executive and Board discussions, and external engagements with agendas, briefings, presentations, and correspondence; capture decisions and follow through Coordinate with the CEO's Senior Executive Assistant and the executive team on shared meetings and priorities Serve as a trusted point of contact for leaders, teams, and external contacts Manage logistics for domestic and international travel, offsites, leadership gatherings, and external visits Handle delegated approvals, expenses, and recurring administrative processes accurately Own select priority projects and use technology to improve the COO office's systems and working practices
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 10+ years supporting C-suite executives in complex, fast-moving organizations
Required Skills
Proven expertise managing executive calendars, competing priorities, travel, and meetings Sound judgment and discretion with confidential information; ability to operate independently Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through Strong written and verbal communication, including editing and document preparation Strong interpersonal skills across leadership levels, teams, and external relationships Advanced Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and proficiency in Google Workspace
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting cross-functional projects, leadership offsites, or company-wide initiatives Experience in a complex, regulated, or government-facing environment
Pay range and compensation package
Compensation: $115K - $140K, depending on experience
