About the job
Senior Market Data Compliance Manager
Role purpose The Market Data Compliance Manager leads the delivery of the market data audit and compliance programme, ensuring that client and vendor use of LSEG venue and index data is assessed against applicable agreements, commercial policies and reporting obligations. The role provides leadership across audit planning, complex case management, client engagement, remediation, revenue recovery, governance and process improvement.
The role holder combines deep market data licensing knowledge with sound judgement, ensuring that findings are evidence-led, commercially consistent and capable of withstanding internal, client and legal review. The role also develops the audit team, strengthens stakeholder alignment and drives automation and data-led improvements across the audit lifecycle.
Key accountabilities · Own the global audit plan and prioritisation process, setting a risk-based pipeline across end clients, vendors, datafeeds, applications and redistribution models.
· Lead and develop market data auditors and audit support colleagues through clear objectives, work allocation, coaching, quality review, regular progress tracking and timely escalation.
· Oversee complex on-site and remote compliance reviews covering display, datafeed, redistribution, delayed, end-of-day, derived, manipulated, non-display and automated usage.
· Ensure audit findings, reconciliations, calculations, draft reports, client correspondence and closure documentation are accurate, complete and supported by a clear evidence trail.
· Provide management direction on contractual interpretation, commercial policy, entitlement, reporting and licensing issues, engaging Legal, Policy, Finance, Sales, Account Management and Product teams where specialist input is required.
· Manage client challenges, negotiation strategy, settlement discussions and escalations, maintaining a fair, consistent and audit-defensible position while supporting constructive closure.
· Drive remediation of identified gaps, including corrected reporting, appropriate go-forward licensing, historical revenue recovery and closure of control weaknesses.
· Maintain visibility of the pipeline, case status, financial exposure, forecast revenue, overdue actions and key risks through dashboards, trackers and senior management reporting.
· Govern audit-related Salesforce records and related compliance reporting so that opportunities, status and ownership are reflected consistently.
· Lead continuous improvement and automation of audit planning, allocation, document management, workflow, templates, reminders, dashboards and audit analysis capabilities.
· Partner with reporting and platform teams on migration and system-change requirements, ensuring that audit controls, data access, reporting evidence and client obligations remain effective.
· Ensure Restricted Customer Information (RCI) is handled correctly in accordance with applicable information-barrier and access-control requirements, including the timely onboarding and offboarding of members of RCI Ringfenced Teams and appropriate review, evidence and escalation.
· Promote responsible use of AI and analytical tools to improve audit quality, reduce manual effort and strengthen decision-making, in line with organisational policy and information-handling requirements.
Leadership and stakeholder responsibilities · Set clear expectations, priorities and quality standards for the audit team, balancing workload against case complexity, client responsiveness and business risk.
· Coach auditors on policy application, investigative methodology, data analysis, client communication, negotiation and report writing.
· Provide senior oversight for high-value, sensitive or disputed audits and act as an escalation point for clients and internal stakeholders.
· Build effective relationships with senior stakeholders and communicate complex compliance matters clearly through concise written updates, presentations and decision papers.
· Create a collaborative culture that encourages challenge, knowledge sharing, continuous learning and consistent application of policy.
Decision-making and controls · Approve audit scope, material findings, evidence requirements, calculation methodology, remediation approach and readiness for client issue or closure.
· Determine when a matter requires policy clarification, legal review, commercial approval, additional evidence or senior escalation.
· Ensure concessions, reduced settlement fees and closure decisions are appropriately authorised and documented.
· Protect the integrity and confidentiality of client, contractual and ring-fenced information throughout the audit lifecycle.
· Monitor adherence to agreed standards, service levels, record-keeping requirements and control obligations.
Measures of success · Risk-based audit plan delivered with transparent allocation, active pipeline management and timely completion.
· High-quality, evidence-led audit outputs with clear contractual and policy rationale.
· Identified non-compliance is remediated through accurate reporting, appropriate licensing and historical recovery where applicable.
· Complex client matters are progressed with disciplined follow-up, proportionate escalation and documented decisions.
· Reliable management information covering delivery, exposure, revenue, ageing, risks and actions.
· Measurable reduction in manual activity through workflow, dashboard, automation and AI-enabled improvements.
· Capable, engaged team with strong market data knowledge, analytical rigour and consistent client communication.
Candidate profile · Significant experience in market data compliance, audit, licensing, reporting, commercial policy, vendor management or a closely related financial services discipline.
· Deep understanding of how market data is sourced, entitled, consumed, displayed, redistributed, stored and used within buy-side, sell-side, trading, technology and vendor environments.
· Strong knowledge of exchange and index data licensing, including display and non-display use, datafeeds, redistribution, automated applications, derived or manipulated data, delayed data and end-of-day use cases.
· Demonstrated experience leading people and delivering a portfolio of complex audits, investigations, compliance reviews or commercial remediation cases.
· Ability to interpret agreements and policy, test client assertions against evidence, identify inconsistencies and reach balanced, defensible conclusions.
· Experience of working with Legal, Finance, Sales, Product, Account Management, Reporting and Technology stakeholders.
· Advanced analytical capability, including data manipulation, reconciliation and confident use of Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with BI, workflow or automation tools is beneficial.
· Familiarity with market data inventory, entitlement and reporting systems such as DACS, EMRS, MDM, FITS, InfoMatch or equivalent platforms is advantageous.
