Compensation (Grade 9N & 10):

Grade 9N: 32.67 - $39.21/ hr.

Grade 10: $76,458 - $91,749

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite)

General Summary (Grade 9N & 10):

Under the direction of the manager, Visual Communications, work with project teams to conceptualize, design, produce and present visual communication solutions across print, digital, video and emerging media platforms for stakeholders including active and retired Ohio educators, contributing employers, investment and government entities, the retirement board and internal staff. Combine expertise in graphic design, video production, motion graphics, photography, digital storytelling and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered creative tools to strengthen State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) communications and maintain a consistent visual brand across channels.

Summary of Responsibilities (Grade 9N & 10):

Work with communications strategists, web professionals, production staff and clients to understand project requirements and support the development of effective visual solutions across print, digital, video and multimedia platforms. (Grade 9N) Work with communications strategists, web professionals, production staff and clients to understand communication needs and develop effective visual solutions across print, digital, video and multimedia platforms. (Grade 10) Review project requirements and advise on the presentation of graphic, technical and statistical information. Develop creative briefs, storyboards, scripts and project mockups when appropriate. Select industry-standard tools and production methods that best communicate concepts, information and ideas. (Grade 10) Assist with producing and editing video, motion graphics, animation, illustrations, photography and audio for websites, social media, presentations and other organizational communication channels. (Grade 9N) Use approved design and artificial intelligence (AI) powered creative tools to develop, edit and enhance visual and multimedia content in accordance with organizational standards. (Grade 9N) Develop effective solutions for the system’s communication needs with a clear, consistent corporate image and identity for target audiences. Manage assigned projects from concept through final review, production and delivery. (Grade 10)

Summary of Qualifications (Grade 9N & 10):

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, communications, digital media or a related field required. (Grade 9N & 10) Three or more years of related experience in graphic design, visual communication, video production, multimedia or a related area preferred. (Grade 9N) Seven to 10 years of related experience required. (Grade 10) Foundational knowledge of visual design principles, including color theory, composition, typography, layout and visual storytelling required. (Grade 9N) Strong foundation in strategic visual thinking, concept development and presentation, color theory, composition, typography and visual storytelling required. (Grade 10) Working knowledge of industry-standard graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, required. (Grade 9N) Proficiency with industry-standard design, video editing and motion graphics software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects, and Microsoft Office required. (Grade 10) Working knowledge of Mac OS, Windows OS and Microsoft Office programs required. (Grade 9N) Knowledge of AI-powered creative, image, audio and video generation tools and the ability to apply them responsibly and effectively in a business environment required. (Grade 10) Strong functional knowledge of Mac OS and Windows OS required. (Grade 10)
